The Department of Design at The Ohio State University seeks a faculty member recognized as both a prolific academic researcher and an expert in user-centered design research processes in professional practice. Minimum qualifications would include a terminal master degree (MFA or equivalent), though a Ph.D. is preferred. The Promotions/Graphic Designer produces advertisements, publications and promotional materials to inform targeted audiences about Ohio Dominican University events, policies and news. The Promotions/Graphic designer reviews and updates content for the ODU website; maximizes ODUs presence on social media sites; designs, updates, oversees production of ODU campus banners and signage; and serves as department liaison between faculty and staff, print vendors and advertising agencies to ensure ODU promotional materials are produced on time and reflect ODUs brand standards. The Promotions/Graphic designer works closes with the Director of University Relations and other members of the ODU marketing department on a variety of projects.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in graphic design with a minimum of 2 years experience in web design and social media. Additional requirements include strong attention to detail; the ability to handle multiple tasks successfully; able to work with deadlines and quick turnaround times on projects; able to take initiative and be creative; highly motivated and committed to the goals of higher education; able to work independently and as part of a team; and possess the ability to develop and nurture positive relationships with people inside and outside the University. Technical knowledge includes familiarity and expertise with the following: Microsoft Windows 2003, XP; Microsoft Office Professional Suite 2003, 2007 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007; Adobe Photoshop 7.0, CS2, CS3; Adobe InDesign CS3; and proficient in use of e-mail, local area networks and digital file management. Knowledge of Datatel and Content Management Systems a plus for this position.
